The only black owner in the history of the Cup, Michael Jordan, made a revolutionary gesture by deciding to invest in NASCAR. And now another entrepreneur could become a trailblazer in the NASCAR investor category.
According to Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, Army veteran and entrepreneur, Phyllis Newhouse wants to become a NASCAR team owner by following Jordan’s path. Apparently, Newhouse has been in talks with multiple teams, track owners and the governing body for months. If things pan out, Newhouse, a net worth of $7 million, would be among the first black women to invest in NASCAR history.
